Well, friends, In today's post i will suggest you few ways by which you can protect your E-mail account.
Now a days it is security concern to keep your E-mail account safe as your E-mail account can be hacked anytime by hackers or people with wrong intentions and they can use your email account for sending threats or blackmailing someone with your name. Finally you will come under scanner of police when the investigation will 'on'.
There are few ways, by which surely you can protect your E-mail account. I am listing it one by one below :-
1. Make habit of hit 'Log Out' button after every session:- Once you are using Internet either from your home computer/lappi or from cyber cafe/public computer. It is always safe to 'Log Out' after the end of every session. Don't ever check 'Remember my id & password' option while logging into your Email account....OK
2. Don't disclose your id and password:- Never disclose your id and password to anyone. Sometimes you might get fake email asking about your email id and password. Remember don't ever type your Email account information in such mail or on small/untrusted websites.
3. Clear your Cookies/Saved passwords after every session:- While you are accessing Internet either on public computer or in cyber cafe. it is always safe to Clear your cookies/saved password after every session. you can get this option in 'Tools' menu in any browser.
4. Always use HTTPS:- Most of the time, while accessing our Email account we use http://. Use https:// always. This is a great feature from security point of view offered by Email service providers. HTTPS is secure protocol for transmission of vital information on web in encrypted form.HTTPS makes mail little slower than normal but security should be of our prime concern.
5. Change E-mail account Password Regularly:- This is also a good option to keep your account safe. At least every month you should change your password and yes, one more thing, while choosing password for you...make it strong by combination of alphabets, numbers and special characters. So that even some see your password while typing. He won't able to trace it, if it is so complex.
6. Think before you Click on any link:- Don’t fall prey to phishing attempt. So always check links before hitting on any such links.
7. Attachments :– Email service providers scans every attachment you receive or send for virus or other such kind of threats but even then, it is not advised to download attachments from untrusted source. This will keep your computer safe and so your account.
10. Spam:– Don’t waste your time reading Spam messages. Spam messages are not only waste of time but also may prove to be a security concern as Spams may contain links to malicious websites.
11. Keep your Email Account Recovery option updated :- Suppose you forget your password, then you do need to recover it. So, Remember the security question and answers which you have given it while creating the new email account for you. And always Specify one secondary email address, so that your new password can be delivered to you on that address by Email service provider in case you forget your password.
That's it for today friends....Just keep this thing in mind and enjoy Surfing....!!!
